Prevent SCA and Monitor Your Heart
New implantable cardioverter defibrillators have less invasive methods of installation
The cardioverter, or implantable cardioverter defibrillator, is a very new defibrillation device designed to prevent sudden cardiac arrest in patients, and requires minimally invasive surgery compared to expensive open heart procedures for other types of implanted defibrillators and heart pacemaker devices. According to the American Heart Association website, http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=11227 the cardioverter “is used in patients at risk for recurrent, sustained ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation” so it is not an option for every heart patient. (At this point, we should note that this site is not designed to give medical advice so you should consult with a cardiologist if you want to know more.).
